Our Programs & Activities

We intend to offer largely consumer based programs whose activities focus on awareness and information, i.e. creating the demand for Fair Trade and other ethical products and encouraging ethical consumption from the bottom up.  At the same time, however, we will also be working to increase the availability and promotion of Fair Trade and other ethical products in
Singapore from the top down.

The Choices

There are a number of ways that individual consumers can improve their “footprints”.  We plan to focus on the following choices for individuals:

  1. Reduce your consumption.  Try to move towards simplicity. Buy Less. Reduce/Reuse/Recycle.
  2. Buy locally when possible. Support community owned entities and cooperatives.
  3. Buy Fair Trade products
  4. Shop Selectively. Support ethical and socially responsible companies.
  5. Boycott the worst abusers and make sure you tell them why you are boycotting them and tell others to do the same.

Our first major program is fairtrade.sg, which builds on Choice # 3 above, Buy Fair Trade Products.  fairtrade.sg promotes Fair Trade in Singapore by providing information and resources and by facilitating a network of organizations, groups and individuals interested in Fair Trade and/or selling Fair Trade certified products.
